Nieder-Olm / Bruckberg / Deblin (PL) . The international industry federation of the fruit juice industry SGF International e.V. (Sure - Global - Fair, former Protective Association for the Fruit Juice Industry, registered association) carries out certifications at fruit-processing companies, filling plants, dealers and brokers of fruit juices as well as transport companies and refrigerated warehouses in almost 60 countries.
In addition to the international raw material quality monitoring (IRMA) the association installed a further monitoring programme (FRAPP), which is unique in the world, to add to the pest control measures used in fruit and vegetable cultivation just under ten years ago. FRAPP stands for Fruit Risk Assessment Programme for Pesticides. Information about the used active pesticide ingredients are collected from all cultivation regions of the world and subsequently evaluated in an extensive database according to active ingredient, type of fruit and vegetable and country/region each year. These data are supplemented by the actual MRL values (Maximum Residue Level) for the active ingredients in Europe and also other regions and can provide valuable information for the members for the estimate of risks for possible contamination by pesticide residues of raw materials of the most varied origin.
The AGROLAB laboratory group is one of the large European analysis service providers and, among others, carries out extensive quality and residue examinations in agricultural products, raw materials and food of all kinds in its laboratories.
With the signing of a cooperation agreement with the AGROLAB laboratory location EUROCONTROL Sp.z o.o. in Deblin (Poland) SGF consistently pursues the aim to establish regional partnerships in order to be able to offer the members the best possible service. EUROCONTROL should hereby integrate the Polish SGF/IRMA member plants into the FRAPP programme in the long-term based on the existing contacts and thus continuously help to distribute the data basis of the regionally used pesticides. The mediation of the information in the national language should motivate to regularly carry out the annual inputs concerning the used active ingredients into the database and as full as possible. With EUROCONTROL a partner was chosen, which is already present in the Polish cultivation regions with its specialist field sales service and has a high reputation as reliable and independent laboratory partner.
Poland is an important cultivation region for pip fruit and berry fruit and an important component supplier for juice fruit, concentrates, pulps and fruit extracts in Europe. The expansion of the FRAPP database as an important module will therefore contribute to the consistent minimisation of risks in fruit processing and in the end to improved consumer protection.
