The fact that "Kiel sprats" originally come from Eckernförde is probably common knowledge. But what is new now: AGROLAB LUFA now offers a specific rt-PCR detection system for Sprattus sprattus.
The spectrum of specific species tests has grown by another method in fish identification. The team around Anja Palisch from AGROLAB LUFA has completed the validation for a specific real-time PCR method for the detection of European sprat (Sprattus sprattus) and has expanded the range of accredited animal species detection by another species. The new method replaces the much more complex and expensive DNA sequencing and is suitable for routine testing, not only in raw fish but also in processed fish products.
YOUR PLUS: Especially for canned fish, the classical sequencing method fails very often because it requires a much longer intact DNA fragment than our self-developed real-time PCR systems.
