Metals such as arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury are important environmental pollutants, particularly in areas with high anthropogenic pressure. Their presence, even in traces can cause serious problems to all organisms, thus heavy metal bioaccumulation in the food chain especially can be highly dangerous to human health.

AGROLAB Iberica (Tarragona), has expanded its scope of accreditation ISO 17025 for heavy metals in all kind of food. It includes the determination of arsenic, cadmium and lead in food products by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and the determination of mercury by cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry, requiring both determinations, a previous high pressure digestion using a microwave.

This expansion allows us to respond to market needs by offering robust analyses, with a reduction in the quantification limits that allow compliance with all the MRLs defined in Reg. EU 1881/2006, which sets the maximum content of certain contaminants in food products, with a notable reduction in our results delivery times.
