Which foodstuffs - and here especially fruit and vegetables - are on the EU Commission's research program for the coming years? This list can also be of interest for the determination of inspection plans for producers and trade.

For the following three years, ten food products of plant origin and two food products of animal origin will be tested for pesticide residues annually.

The 2021 program for fruit and vegetables focuses on the following products: table grapes, bananas, grapefruits, aubergines, broccoli, melons, cultivated mushrooms, peppers, wheat grains, native olive oil and, as animal products, beef fat and chicken eggs. In the case of plant foods, the monitoring list is to include up to 183 active substances, while in the case of animal foods, only a maximum of 26 parameters will be examined in Europe-wide monitoring.

New are plant products: aluminium-fosetyl, glufosinate-ammonium, prochloraz, pyridalyl and spinetoram.

In the case of samples of animal origin, glufosinate-ammonium and pendimethalin are also included in the investigation plan for the first time.

Good to know: The AGROLAB residue labs routinely run all of these compounds
