As since 2016, France has again published a regulation prohibiting the introduction, import and placing on the market of cherries from countries where the use of dimethoate is permitted.
The import and marketing of fresh cherries from EU and third countries where the use of plant protection products containing the active ingredient dimethoate (insecticide) for the treatment of cherries is prohibited. A decree of 8 April 2020 published this for putting into practice the day after declaration.
On 31 March 2020, France asked the European Commission to take emergency measures to suspend the import of fresh cherries from cherry trees treated with dimethoate, and is therefore publishing a prohibition order without any established provision from the European Commission.
This active ingredient is used on cherries to control Drosophila suzukii.
AGROLAB offers dimethoate detection in cherries. Please contact your CRM or sales manager for any information.
