NapiFeryn Biotech has developed technology that isolates and purifies rapeseed protein for food formulation.
May “Raptein” replace soy protein in future? The scientist from NapiFeryn Biotech are convinced and were elected by the EIT (European Institute of Innovation and Technology) as a “rising food star”. The company around founder and CTO Piotr Wnukowski invented a technology which enables the isolation of the valuable protein from rape seed (canola) with removal of the bitter components. No solvents are used in the sustainable processing. Replacing soy protein extracts in feed by local protein sources would also contribute to a climate-and resource-friendly production of feed also avoiding long transport chains. The quality “raptein” is very high and it does not contain phytoestrogens as soy. It has excellent proceeding properties. At present the young company runs a pilot scale production to provide samples to food and feed industries and is now planning to upscale the process. Financial supporters should be found easily to fund the next phase after being member now of the “rising star” community of EIT.
