Change of Maximum Residue Level (MRL)

Regulation EU 2019/1559 enters into force on 07.10.2019 and provides for the following changes, which will apply 6 months later ("deferral period" / "grace period"), i.e. from 07.04.2020.

 

Cyflufenamid (CAS No: 180409-60-3): Reduction of the maximum residue limit to the analytical limit of determination of 0, 01 mg/kg with exceptions (see table, unchanged MRL are not listed).

Fluquinconazole (CAS No: 136426-54-5): Reduction of the maximum residue limit to the limit of analytical determination of 0,01 mg/kg excluding fresh herbs (0,02 mg/kg)

Tembotrione (CAS-No.: 335104-84-2): Maximum residue limit for fresh herbs increased from 0.02 mg/kg to 0.04 mg/kg

Chlormequat: The regulation EU 2019/1561 published on 18.9.2019 sets a temporary amendment for in oyster mushrooms. The regulation came into force on 8.10.2019 and sets the new maximum residue level at 6 mg/kg, initially limited until 13.4.2021. The reason for this MRL amendment in the case of untreated cultivated fungi is a possible cross-contamination by straw used as substrate, which was lawfully treated with Chlormequat. The residue definition is: Chlormequat (sum of Chlormequat and its salts expressed as Chlormequat chloride).

Imazalil (35554-44-0): MRLs for Imazalil have been lowered for some citrus products, tomatoes and courgettes and raised for soft fruits and cucumbers (see table, unchanged MRLs are not listed). With the publication of Regulation EU 2019/1582 on 26.9.2019 it will enter into force on 16.10.2019 and the new MRLs will apply from 16.4.2020. Grapefruits, oranges, apples, pears, bananas and potatoes must comply directly with the new MRLs from 16.04.2020, regardless of when they were produced or imported. Please note the detailed provisions in Article 2 for the transitional measures for other products ("transitional measures / period"), as these do not apply uniformly to all products.
