AGROLAB LUFA had the opportunity to host the spring meeting of the project group in Kiel. And welcomed 35 scientists ( m/f) for exchange of experience.
The COMPETENCE NETWORK FOOD PROFILING (CNFP) is a scientific joint project comprising academic partner institutions and private enterprises and funded over a time of 36 months with 3.4 Mio €. The project is supported by funds of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) based on a decision of the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany via the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE) under the innovation support programme. The consortium is headed by Prof. Markus Fischer from the HAMBURG SCHOOL OF FOOD SCIENCE. The focus lays on developments in the area of instrumental analysis for the authentication of foodstuffs. The relevant authenticity parameters include the determination of geographical origin and the verification of species or varieties.
AGROLABGROUP is actively participating in the project with two laboratories and works on two different analytical platform technologies based on proteomics and genomics.
The meeting in Kiel in March brought together the working groups for a progress report, but also to discuss about challenges from the lab bench and outlook on the last project phase until May 2020.
The essential idea of the project is to bring together academic research with the requirements of private laboratories interested in offering robust routine procedures based on innovative technologies to their clients in food industries, by which authenticity of food and raw materials can be approved safely and economically reasonable. In this way a direct transfer of the developed methods into the economy should be ensured.
