Last Thursday, October 10, ASFAC, the Catalan Association of Composite Feed Manufacturers, celebrated its 30 years in the company of all partners.
The event was attended by 160 people representing feed manufacturers in Catalonia, Aragon, Traders importing raw materials, suppliers, brokers from the cereals market and other agents of the agri-food sector.
ASFAC is the Catalan Association of Manufacturers of Feedstuff whose objective is to represent and defend the feed manufacturer in front of the different public bodies and with third parties.
AGROLAB-IBERICA, acted as Gold Sponsor, having a place and a special distinction.
A colloquium was also held entitled: The feed of the future: threat or opportunity, with the participation of Mr. Abel Mariné (Professor of nutrition and Bromatology and retired Professor emeritus of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences of the UB), the Mrs. Marta Rivera (Bachelor and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in the specialty of animal production and agricultural economics), Mr. Pedro Cordero (General Director of NANTA and representative of the sector in the FEFAC) and Mr. Pere Borrell (President of ASFAC).
Once the colloquium was finished, where the demand and need for animal protein, environmental factors, new food models and the efficiency and viability of the sector were discussed, the Minister of Agriculture of Catalonia closed the event where he highlighted, among others, that one of The most important challenges for the sector is to reconnect the rural world with the urban one.
In addition, it also highlighted the creation of the Consell Català de l’Alimentació, which must be a necessary food strategy to link all the agents in the food chain; from the import of raw materials, feed manufacturers, through livestock production and ending with the final consumer.
The event ended with a dinner paired with wines from Pla de Bages and live music, where attendees could finish celebrating the 30 years of the association.
